Eagle Rock Library Events for October 2011

4 Tues. Storytime: Clifford the Big Red Dog. Join us and hear stories about Clifford and his adventures. We’ll also play a fun Clifford game and color a cute Clifford picture. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 10:30am.

7 Fri.  Craft Time: 3-D Pumpkins. Hey kids! Join us for this Autumn-themed craft time and make a cool three-dimensional pumpkin out of basic supplies. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880.  2:45pm.

10 Mon. The library is closed in observance of Columbus Day.

11 Tues. Storytime: Leaves & Trees. During this storytime, we will read about the falling leaves and the season of Autumn. For our craft, we will do leaf rubbings from leaves we gather during a fun nature walk (weather permitting). Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 10:30am.

14 Fri.  Craft Time: Ink & Leaves Picture. Hey kids! Have you ever made art using a drinking straw? During this fun craft time, we’ll do just that – using black ink and dried leaves to create an image of an autumn tree. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880.  2:45pm.

17 Mon.  Friends of the Eagle Rock Library Monthly Meeting. Join the Friends Group and learn how you can help raise funds for their Fill the Shelves campaign to help grow the Eagle Rock Library’s small collection. 6:00pm.

18 Tues. Storytime: Caterpillars. Join us as we read stories about creeping, crawling, cute caterpillars! We’ll also make a caterpillar craft to take home. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 10:30am.

21 Fri.  Craft Time: Scary Skeletons & Spiders. Join us for this most frightening craft time, where we’ll create terrifying mini-skeletons and spiders to decorate our houses with for Halloween.  Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880.  2:45pm.

25 Tues. Storytime: Halloween! Join us for this fun storytime where we’ll read all about Halloween. For our craft, we’ll make frighteningly fun paper plate bats. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880. 10:30am.

27 Thurs.  Book Club. Join us as we discuss Garth Stein’s clever and touching book The Art of Racing in the Rain – a story about life, and the end of life, all from a dog’s point of view. We will also hand out our November selection. Delicious refreshments will be provided and new members are always welcome! 10:30am.

27 Thurs.  Movie of the Month: Spooky Buddies. Hey kids! Join us after school for a free showing of Spooky Buddies: Disney’s irresistible talking puppies are back in an all-new movie that takes them far across town to a mysterious mansion where something very spooky is going on. With the help of some unexpected new friends, including a friendly ghost, this exciting adventure is howling-good Buddy fun. In a race against a no good hound, the Buddies and their new friends, Pip, Zelda, Rodney, and Skip, must stop Warwick the Warlock and save the world from his dastardly deeds. (Rated G/88 minutes long). Free popcorn and bottled water will be provided. 2:45pm.

28 Fri.  Craft Time: Spooky Clothespin Bats. Hey kids! Join us for this bat-tastic craft time where you’ll get to make your own spooky Halloween bats to place around your house. Sign up at the front desk or call the library at 540-884-3880.  2:45pm.
