Coming Up

In the market for a new home? Don’t miss the Open House guide in the paper Saturday and Sunday.

It’s official: Arney, Leffel, Martin, Scothorn win

Mac and Denise Scothorn after he won the Valley District race three to one over the write-in candidate.

The Fincastle Courthouse precinct has reported, so we can wrap things up.

* Bill Arney (R) was elected treasurer. He took 4,302 votes, with Michael Rock (I) second with 2,557 and Lois Thurston (I) third with 1,492.

* Jack Leffel (I) ousted Larry Ceola (R) for Fincastle supervisor by a vote of 1,220 to 589.

And as previously reported:

* Billy Martin (R) was re-elected Blue Ridge District supervisor, topping Sam Foster (I) by 995 to 828 votes.

* Mac Scothorn (R) polled 1,274 votes for Valley District supervisor. Don Assaid (I) waged a write-in campaign, but only 396 write-ins were cast. Who they were for won’t be determined until Wednesday, but they weren’t enough to top Scothorn who won in a land slide.
