VWCC announces scholarships to Botetourt students
Virginia Western Educational Foundation awards scholarships to Botetourt County students
Nearly $127,000 awarded to 111 students
Roanoke — A quality college education requires a substantial investment from students, parents and the community. Through the continual support and generosity of individuals and organizations in the area, Virginia Western Community College is able to provide students with the skills and resources necessary to become successful employees as well as the academic knowledge needed to transfer to a four-year college or university.
As a result of the investment made by community members, businesses, organizations, and non-profit groups, the Virginia Western Educational Foundation has awarded nearly $127,000 in scholarships to 111 students for the 2011-2012 academic year. These scholarships open the door to higher education and a brighter future for individuals who strengthen our region and enrich our community.
Listed below are the recipients from Botetourt County and the scholarships they received:
Opal Beckman received the Employee Annual Giving Scholarship
Marissa Cook received the Sister Eveline Murray Endowed Scholarship
Morgan Freeman received the Bank of Botetourt H. Watts Steger III Annual Scholarship
Justin Mayhue received the Al Pollard Memorial Scholarship for the Culinary Arts – Benefiting First-Year Students
Tanya Segura received the HCA Nursing Scholarship
Melissa Shaffer received the Beverly Day Williamson Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Melody Shaffer received the Dr. Elizabeth W. Payne Endowed Scholarship
Anna Wallace received the Beverly Day Williamson Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Laura Wells received the Walter Darnall Vinyard Endowed Scholarship
Eric Whiting received the John Morris Roslyn Educational Scholarship
