Martin and Aqua customers began rate increase battle

Last week on April 5 Billy Martin the Blue Ridge Supervisor met with 17 constituents not happy about the  next proposed Aqua Virginia rate increase. Almost two years ago, Martin waged a similar battle. The current increase is a 19% increase.

Martin sees this as an unending quest by Aqua Virginia to increase rates to the level of the request two years ago. After the discussion, ten petitions were sent out to the community of customers.

Martin said the next meeting will be in May. He has also asked the Board of Supervisors to look into the matter at the March meeting and for a response in the April meeting.
