“Beware of door to door solicitors,” says Sheriff R.N. Sprinkle
Have you ever had an unexpected knock at the door, only to be confronted by an unsolicited door to door salesperson? In Botetourt County this is a violation of section 19-1–27 of the Botetourt County Code. Recent activities have prompted Sheriff R.N. Sprinkle to remind county residents of this ordinance, and should you observe such incidents you are encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office. Solicitors wishing to do business in Botetourt County MUST obtain a yearly solicitors permit from the Sheriff’s Office.
This photo identification must be worn and visible at all times. It is important to remember the exceptions to this ordinance, to include those solicitors invited by the property owner, unpaid members of civic, religious or charitable organizations, newspaper & fresh farm product sales, & route delivery persons who make deliveries once a week to regular customers & whose solicitation is incidental.
