Botetourt County residents honored at Virginia Tech commencement
The following Virginia Tech students were among those honored at the university’s fall commencement ceremony held Dec. 16, 2011, in Cassell Coliseum.
Approximately 1,393 bachelor’s and associate degree candidates, along with their families and friends, attended the on-campus ceremony presided by Virginia Tech President Charles Steger.
Vice President for Student Affairs Edward Spencer gave the keynote address at the University Commencement Ceremony. As vice president, he oversees the 15 departments in the Division of Student Affairs, including campus housing, dining, counseling, health services, student centers and activities, fraternity and sorority life, recreational sports, and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.
David Alphin of Buchanan received a Bachelor of Science degree in apparel, housing and resource management from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Laura Crutchfield of Daleville received a Bachelor of Science in Business degree in marketing management from the Pamplin College of Business.
Michael Callahan of Eagle Rock received a Bachelor of Science degree in apparel, housing and resource management from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Evan Harris of Eagle Rock received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Ryan Kidd of Fincastle received an Associate of Agriculture degree in agricultural technology from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Barbara Sprinkel of Fincastle received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Leslie Broughman of Troutville received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
