Bus driver charged in school bus accident that injured 13
The driver of the bus that wrecked this morning north of Fincastle has been charged with reckless driving, according to Virginia State Police.
Mary Elizabeth Esque of Eagle Rock has been charged, Sgt. Rob Carpentieri said.
“The driver was distracted by a student,” he said. “She was looking at a student in her rear-view mirror, and she ran off the road.”
The bus carried 35 students bound for James River High School and Central Academy Middle School; 13 were taken to hospitals with what have been described by authorities as minor injuries.
