DSLCC scholarships available for Wind Turbine Service technician training

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College announced that tuition scholarships will be available for eligible participants who enroll in the Wind Turbine Service Technology training program for the fall semester. Students are encouraged to contact the college’s Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Services to request an information packet and learn more details about the program. All participants must agree to complete a packet of materials to document eligibility requirements as a condition of receiving funds for the cost of enrolling.

A U.S. Department of Labor grant awarded to DSLCC is in its third and final year. Funds are available for those who seek training for jobs in emerging “green” technology manufacturing and renewable energy industries.

“This program has met with much success,” said Richard Teaff, president of DSLCC. “We have secured the latest equipment and instructional materials that allowed us to expand job training programs and enhance work-force services. Individuals who complete the Wind Turbine Service Technology program should find good opportunities for employment, a result of the nation’s growing focus on green jobs.”

Fall classes begin the week of August 20. Anyone interested in this program and applying for free tuition should contact the college immediately, as spaces are limited. To learn more about the training program or the student scholarships, contact Earl Dodrill, Coordinator of Continuing Education and Workforce Services at 540/863-2902 or email edodrill@dslcc.edu.
