LBHS Band says thanks for the support

The members of the Lord Botetourt High School Instrumental Music Program and the Band Boosters would like to thank the community for it’s support throughout the 2011 – 2012 school year. It has been a very successful year for the band program on many different fronts. The marching band had an extremely successful year with their performances of “Alla Famiglia”. The marching band received many first places and superior ratings as well as special recognition at the United States Scholastic Band Central Virginia Regional Competition when they received the Marine Corps Esprit de Corps Award. Following the completion of the marching season, several members were selected to perform UVA’s Honor Band at the annual UVA Band Day event. Our Concert Band program received a rating of Superior at the annual District Concert Assessment. A rating of Superior is the highest honor that a band can receive at a festival and to receive one at the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association Concert Assessment is an even higher honor. The LBHS Band had six students participate in All District Bands and had one student selected to participate in the Virginia All State Band. The LBHS Winter Guard Program competed for the first time after a temporary hiatus. The program guard received finishes place at their one and only Winter Guard competition, giving the ladies of the Guard Program only 1st place finishes in Marching Band (four first place finishes) and Winterguard for the 2011 – 2012 school year.

–Chris Caldwell, band director
