Public Hearing on VDOT Six Year Secondary Plan

Board of Supervisors at the May 2012 meeting.

For the the years 2013 through 2018, VDOT presented the six year secondary plan. Only $692, 703  has been allocated for the next six years  mostly in the range of $117, 237 per year.

The  current priority projects at Webster Road Bridge replacement and Etzler Road lanes at school and rec park are complete and waiting for financial closure. The next priority roads are Catawba Road at Etzler Road for intersection improvements and bridge. The project awaits federal funding.

Other future projects include Glebe Road vertical curve improvements, P and E for The Springwood- Fincastle Bypass.

Discussion ensued during the public hearing. The lack of solid funding was an issue. Small rural rustic road projects are about all that has funded at this time. Terry Austin asked about cost sharing. He was told August through November is the time period for cost sharing. Mill Creek Baptist Church has moved ahead with a building project that will require a later road change which will be apart of Phase 2 of the church’s project.

The Secondary Road Six Year Plan was adopted by the board.
