Buchanan’s “Stop Hunger Now” event Sat. June 9 organized by Hannah Austin

Hannah Austin has organized a Stop Hunger now project of June 9 in Buchanan-- come help!

When Hannah Austin proposed the  “Stop Hunger Now” project at her high school, it did not fly. Not to be deterred, the  JRHS junior set out to get the Buchanan Community churches to help her with the project. She was very fortunate to get the support of the following churches:

New Beginnings Assembly of God,     Virginia Presbyterian, Wheatland Lutheran,  Buchanan Charge UMYF,  Buchanan Charge UMMF, Lithia United Methodist Church.
Stop Hunger Now Event, Saturday, June 9

10 a.m. Noon at Buchanan’s Volunteer Fire Department

Our community gathers at the Buchanan Volunteer Fire Dept to celebrate such things as state sports successes and holiday parades. Let’s gather THIS SATURDAY to package meals for the less fortunate. Show up at 10am to join in the fun and aid in this mission.

We’re VERY close to $5,000. We’re only $947.25 shy of our goal, and there are a few donations yet to go into the pot. Five thousand dollars means that we’ll package 20,000 meals!

If your group isn’t able to donate this year, don’t worry. We still want to see you Saturday morning. Come see what it’s all about. We hope to make this a yearly event for the area. You can see if it’s something in which you’ll want to be more involved next year.

The ‘money part’ will be wrapped up today June 6. Then we need congregants and members from YOUR GROUP to come out and do the physical labor. Lift a 50 lb bag of rice, lift a cup of rice, weigh a bag of food, seal it up, toss it in the box, carry the box to the truck…we need folks for all these jobs; please consider lending a hand.

I am impressed with your efforts.
Please allow me to help with a generous donation.
Advise how to do it, as I am away from Blue Ridge at the present.
