Photos: Student recitals at Blue Ridge Academy of Music

Jason Cohen of the Blue Ridge Academy of Music shares these photos and write-ups about students who recently performed their musical recitals:

  • Will Kapral of Bonsack performed his first piano recital at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music’s new Recital Hall and Theatre on Sunday, May 20. His program was well-rounded, and Will introduced all of his selections himself. Will is a student of Matt Bartley. Congratulations, Will!
  • Jacob Calhoun of Bonsack performed his guitar recital at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music’s new Recital Hall and Theatre on Sunday, May 20. His repertoire consists mainly of praise and gospel music, and his audience enjoyed his performance very much. Jacob introduced all his pieces himself and gave a very polished performance. He is pictured with instructor Jason Cohen.
  • Lynn Park, a student of Lenora Turner, performed her first piano recital at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music’s new Recital Hall and Theatre. Lynn performed for over half an hour, and every piece was memorized. She introduced all of her selections, and her audience enjoyed her performance very much. Congratulations, Lynn!
  • Graham Sherman of Blue Ridge performed his first piano recital at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music’s new Recital Hall and Theatre on May 6, 2012. He introduced all his pieces himself and played to his audience’s delight for thirty minutes. Graham is pictured with instructor Jason Cohen.
  • Cousins Nathan Yates and Allison Purcell, both of Bonsack, performed their recitals at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music’s new Recital Hall and Theatre on Sunday, May 20. It was Allison’s second recital on the piano, and Nathan’s first recital on the guitar. Both played very well and entertained a good-sized audience for about an hour. They are pictured with their instructor Jason Cohen.
  • Emily and Becky Weller, both piano students at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music, each performed their second recital at their home Sunday, April 29.  Both Emily and Becky are quite accomplished, having performed compositions of Schuman, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Bach, Debussy, Brahms, and Dvorak.  Not only are the Weller sisters well-versed in the classical literature, they are adept at contemporary favorites, too, such as the selections they played from Cats, Phantom of the Opera, and Beauty and the Beast.  Their audience of 50 was entertained for well over an hour.  Emily stands with her instructor Lenora Turner and Becky stands with her instructor Jason Cohen.
  • All the members of the Seibel family performed their recitals at The Blue Ridge Academy of Music’s new Recital Hall and Theatre on Sunday, April 29. Tess Seibel and Claire Seibel performed on the piano and Andrew Seibel performed on the guitar. It was the second recital for Andrew! Everyone played very well, and their audience was entertained for an hour and a half as each member of the family delivered a wide variety of music from many periods. Tess, Andrew, and Claire are pictured with their instructor, Jason Cohen.
