Administrative fees go up on Botetourt County’s deliquent taxes collection

Arney is serious about collecting delinquent taxes.

Administrative costs have increased  and due to tax deliquency collection rates, the Treasurer’s Office had asked for an administrative  fee increase at the July Board of Supervisors meeting  the Botetourt Board of Supervisors.

Last month, Bill Arney the County Treasurer had asked to use resources to collect delinquent taxes. An amendment of taxation ordinance to section 23-6 was proposed to increase fees. The current administrative fee was $20 to be increased to $30 and the and attorney’s  administrative fees for collection prior to judgement from $25 to $35. County Attorney Elizabeth Dillion prepared the necessary documents for approval.

A public hearing took place at 3 p.m. on July 24. With no objections, the fees were raised to $30 and $35 as the the board approved the amendments.
