Botetourt Athletic Club to allow same-sex families

Roanoke and Botetourt Athletic Clubs are changing their membership guidelines to give same-sex partners and their children full access to the facilities, according to a message posted this afternoon on the Facebook page for Carilion Clinic, which owns the clubs.

Neil Harvey of The Roanoke Times has more on this story.

Same Sex “partners” cannot have children. It is biologically impossible. It takes a male and a female mating to produce offspring and only then that is a family. As for memberships if they want to allow membership that is up to them but do not consider same sex partners a “family”. Anything other than a pairing which can naturally produce offspring is not a “family”. This is not hate but let’s keep it straight!

Good for the BAC and the RAC! A family is comprised of people who are connected to each other and (hopefully)love each other. And maybe like to exercise together!

So, using Shawn’s logic, a heterosexual couple that is not biologically capable of reproducing but has adopted children are not a family. I can’t really follow that train of thought. Good move, RAC/BAC!

Ok Shawn…what about a couple that has tried, but can’t biologically have kids, and they decide to adopt children? How about a wife, whose husband has died protecting this country, and her kids? Or how about a same sex couple that has legally adopted children? How would you classify this situation? Your lack of knowledge and understanding is baffling..troubling that people like you still think this way.

From Webster’s Dictionary: “Family – 1. A group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head. 2. a group of persons of common ancestry 3. a group of people united by certain convictions or common affiliation.” No mention about “naturally producing offspring”.

Where is your definition coming from Shawn?

Many grandparents are raising grandchildren. Are they not considered a family?

Offspring is what it takes to make a family. That only happens with a male and female. Not every hetrosexual couple can have children and there are many who want to but are not able for a variety of reasons. Everyone knows that same sex “Couples” are not biologically able to have offspring to produce a family. If right now everyone stopped and followed the gay/lesbian lifestyle without hetrosexual relations the human race would cease to exist in one generation from now and there would be no families.
