How did you get your news while the power was out?
We’re a bit late calling your attention to this but over on The Roanoke Times “Refresh RT” blog, they’re asking: How did you get your news while the power was out?
There’s a brief questionnaire. You can check it out here. (And if you got some of your news through The Botetourt View — either the website proper or our Facebook/Twitter updates — don’t forget to mention that somewhere!)

We had to depend on our old fashioned telephone (not the cordless one). Our daughters kept us up on some things. We were so proud of ourselves for having a battery powered radio that can be charged my cranking it. The only problem was that the stations we picked up gave us very little information.
Used the Smart Phone and read the newspaper!
Deb–I know! I saw you on Facebook! I am so glad the power problem was restored as quickly as it was and it seemed like forever at that! I have noticed many big trees just down out in the woods. I guess the fall fire season could be tough! But we survived the heat and lack of power and hooray it is back to normal whatever that is!
We used our smartphones to access the web, Facebook & Twitter and weather radios to check the weather bands & FM (a bunch of the local AM stations lost power & were therefore off the air.) Q99 was the only non NPR station that we could receive that had any kind of news reports.
