Photos: Bill Wellington and children’s fun at Fincastle Library

Bill Wellington is  a folk singer, comedian and musician from Radio Woof. He  came to the Fincastle Library on July 11. He is well known for his ability to entertain both children and adults. He has been doing so for  over 25 years.

Wellington engaged the  crowd of children and their parents and grandparents in a “take turns” kind of afternoon.

He played a banjo, guitar and a fiddle at different times. He  told Knock jokes, asked riddles and even told a silly story about haunted chewing gum! He asked the attendees to clap, to sing along and even stand for some energetic motions to go along with the songs.

It was a fun afternoon. Due to budget cuts from the county, the new budget  does not allow for the weekly additional entertainment to the summer reading  programs at the four libraries.  With the help of the Friends of the libraries and others, at least Bill Wellington made the children laugh on a fun afternoon!
