On August 2, 2012, Private First Class Irina Lyn Boothe of Fincastle, graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC. After a very successful freshman year at Longwood University (Dean’s List both semesters achieving 3.5 GPA or better), Irina, a 2011 graduate of James River High School, decided she would also like to serve her country and enlisted in the VA National Guard Reserve. She shipped to Fort Jackson in May and completed 10 ½ weeks of Basic Combat Training. She will ship to her Advanced Individual Training Station in April 2013. Irina is continuing her education at Longwood University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology.

She was contracted by the Army ROTC on October 4.
