Roanoke Cement encourages truck drivers safe driving now that it is back to school

According to Lance Clark at Roanoke Cement as many as 200 truck trips per day can travel Catawba Road to and from the the cement plant.  A good public citizen as well as a business, Roanoke Cement has numerous outreaches to the local area. Roanoke Cement management  felt a “Back to School”  event for the drivers would bring awareness for school buses and school children.

A luncheon for the  drivers took place at gate 3 on August 21 the day before school began. Employees fed drivers beside a parked school bus. A pick up truck and speed sign in Nannies Market parking lot announced the speed limit as 45 mph. through the stretch of road all the way from the Blacksburg Road intersection to the plant.

They plan to make this an annual event.

Truck driver should always consider their safety whenever or wherever they go. They are heavy and big trucks that carry very heavy loads of anything. bear in mind your safety mr. truck driver.
