Botetourt School enrollment 72 students down from budget projection
Though the critical September 30 enrollment snap shot is still a couple of weeks away, bad news in enrollment projections as of the 10 day enrollment figure for Botetourt County Schools. The actual enrollment on Day 10 was 72 students less than projected. The decline seems to be in low Kindergarten enrollement. In high school both Freshman classes are some of the largest ever.
There were 4,878 students on the 10th day of school. The budget is based on 4, 950 students with a difference of 72 students. The state pays the division on the March 30 enrollment, but September 30 will give the school division a better idea on how many students will be enrolled.
Dr. Tony Brads School Superintendent commented to the school board oon Sept. 13, “We can’t spend what we don’t have,” of the enrollment shortfall.
