Suter speaks about years in Botetourt County
Deputy County Administrator Spencer Suter spoke about his 16 years in Botetourt County. He has traveled 56 miles round trip from Rockbridge every work day during that time. The one thing he likes about his new position is the fact he and his wife Tina and daughter Addision will now be heading the same direction every morning. “My family is excited,” he said. He begins in Rockbridge Oct. 1.
Suter sat down and answered a series of questions about his career in Botetourt and beyond.
What will he do first at his new job? ” I will be finishing up a major broad band grant in Rockbridge when I get there and working with a county wide radio system for public safety.”
When asked what would be different?” A smaller county budget, two cities within the county and an EMS that is all volunteer fire and rescue.”
His major accomplishments in Botetourt County?
I have appreciated the great team of people I worked with in Botetourt. I have met few unreasonable citizens in the area. My first role was to enhance 911 to the county. It worked out and we have a good system. I worked on the radio system, re-addressing and the GIS system.”
He has been instrumental in EMS his entire career here. In 2009 he became an assistant county administrator. He believes his last day will be near the end of the month.
