James River celebrates homecoming tonight — first with the traditional parade through downtown Buchanan, and then with a 7 p.m. game against Auburn.
Lord Botetourt travels to Southwest Roanoke County for its second game in a row at Bogle Field — this time against Cave Spring. It’s a homecoming game in another way – LB’s new football coach, Jamie Harless previously was an assistant for Cave Spring.
Lord Botetourt fans travelling to that game might also want to be aware that there’s a food drive going on at the game; we have details on that here.
No matter which game you’re going to, weather journalist Kevin Myatt sees a perfect night for high school football:
Friday night looks to be ideal for high school football, with no hint of rain. Temperatures will fall through the 70s into the 60s during the games.
We’ll have photos from both games so check back for those — or share your own at email@example.com, or use the “share” tool to upload 10 at a time.
Also, our paparazzi photo crew will be at James River’s homecoming dance on Saturday; look for those photos on the site sometime Monday afternoon. And, of course, you can share your own homecoming photos, too!
Also, Jon Fleming had photos of runners from both schools in the annual Knights Crossing cross-country meet. (The Knights there being the Cave Spring variety, not the James River variety.) And Debbie McAllister had photos of the James River girls track team, which took second.
