Festival of Bands is Oct. 27 at Lord Botetourt High School

The Lord Botetourt Cavalier Band Boosters will host the 16th Annual Cavalier Classic Festival of Bands at the high school on Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting through the evening. At least 24 bands from central and Southwest Virginia will be competing in one of four different classes based on size. As is traditional for the host band, the Marching Cavaliers will perform in exhibition after all competing bands have played.

Bands in this year’s festival will include Abingdon, Altavista Combined, Cave Spring, Dan River, E.C. Glass, Floyd County, George Washington (Danville), George Wythe, Glenvar, Gretna, James River, Liberty, Liberty Christian Academy, Patrick County, Patrick Henry, Pulaski County, Radford, Rustburg, Staunton River, Tunstall, Westover Christian Academy, William Byrd, William Campbell and William Fleming.

Admission to the festival is $5 with proceeds going to support the Marching Cavaliers. Children five and younger will be admitted for free. Programs and concessions will be available for sale throughout the day. The festival will be held in the football stadium unless severe weather conditions force it indoors. The public is cordially invited to attend.
