From on top of the world and around town: Fall colors to fade by weekend
With the threat of bad weather and high winds this week end, the last hurrah of fall was captured today. Along the top of the world as we know it and the edge of Botetourt County, trees billowed leaves from a brisk breeze on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Blue Ridge to Buchanan. If Hurricane Sandy impacts the area with winds and rain, in all leaves will be on the ground, brown and listless. Stick trees will return until next spring. Here is a last glimpse of fall color for 2012. The final photo is three trees along US 220 North near Fincastle at the Church of the Transfiguration. They are resplendent in yellow, maroon and orange grandeur in the afternoon sun against a shimmering blue sky.
