On Sunday, October 21, the Lord Botetourt and James River High School choirs performed at Virginia Heights Baptist Church as a part of the Classics for a Cause program. Both James River and Lord Botetourt choirs are under the direction of Mr. Joel Bremner. James River choir’s repertoire included Bel Pacere (G.F.Handel/Arr.Linda Spevacek), Dirait-on (Morten Lauridsen), and Barter (Rene Clausen/text by Sara Teasdale). Lord Botetourt selections included Alleluia , from Cantata No. 142 (J.S. Bach), The Arrow and the Song (Lon Beery/text by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow), and Chim Chim Cher-ee, from Mary Poppins (Richard and Robert Sherman/Arr. Harry Simeone). All the choirs joined together for a finale performance of I Hear America Singing (Andre J. Thomas). The evening was a relaxing and beautiful concert of music and pure clear voices, all singing together for a fantastic cause.
