Photos: Fincastle Run had over 1,000 participants

The streets of Fincastle were chocked full of participants in the Annual Bank of Fincastle 5K-10K Run. The weather was perfect just cool enough to keep the pace fast and the runners happy! The runner numbers went over 1,000 and for awhile the stream of runners, young and old seemed endless. We have dozens of pictures– Enjoy!

Here are a few race statistics:

The 5k Winners for men were: 3rd Quinn Hogan, 2nd Sam Ring,  and 1st Matthew Wright.

The 5K winners for women were: 3rd Anne Clair Grumbine,  2nd Hannah Peery and 1st,  Cassidy Pickens.

10K winners were Men: 3rd, Erin VanRavenstein, 2nd Billy Perlman and 1st Steven Crowley.

10K winners: Women:  3rd Alena Conrad, 2nd Clemmer Ann Allen, 1st, Megan Hall.

Elementary school particpation:

Number of runners: 3rd Breckinridge : 64 runners;  2nd Greenfield:74 runners; 1st Troutville: 105 runners.

Percentage of student body participating: 3rd place Greenfield 19%; 2nd place Breckinridge 28%; 1st place Troutville 35%.

Bev Hart, PE teacher at Troutville Elementary received a plaque for promoting the race for many years and always having a high participation level at the school. It was also Ms. Hart’s Birthday so the whole gym sang to her!

Winners on the individual teams Middle School: 3rd place RMMS Soul sisters; 2nd RMMS beauty and the Beasts; 1st CAMS Dragons.

Elementary Team Competition: 3rd: Troutville Gold; 2nd Greenfield Blue; 1st Gold medal: Greenfield Gold: Team members: Mr. Bowyer coach, Brandon Day, Andrew Jensen, Todd Moore, Matthew Boyd, Logan Bramblett, Cole Miller, Jake Braun.
