Sheriff R.N. Sprinkle announced the results of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day which was held at the Daleville Kroger on September 29th, 2012. The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the (DEA) Drug Enforcement Agency & (RAYSAC) Roanoke Area Youth Substance Abuse Coalition collected a total of 255.6 pounds of unwanted, outdated, or unusable medications. There were 177 collection points throughout the Commonwealth which in total received 14,702.2 pounds of potentially abusable medications. The purpose of these 6 month collection drives is to provide an efficient disposal option for county residents, to prevent medications from being abused and from needlessly entering the water system.
