Terrific Tuesday: Solar flares, Chainsaws and other creepy stuff!

Sunrise in autumn.

Hey it is almost Terrific Tuesday all over. How’s everything in your neck of the woods?

It has been an interesting week. Lots of technology problems, people problems, and well I am blaming it on the plasma explosion from the Sun last Friday. It has wigged out the planet I fear in small and intricate ways. It is the second big zap in a few months. Read about it here. Kind of gives me the creeps. We had another big flare yesterday.

I have been very busy for several months and it is harder and harder to keep up! Today at the Board of Supervisors meeting I planned to write this little column and it just never happened.

Tonight it is as warm as milk and toast. I cannot believe that it could possibly snow  in the area next Tuesday. Keep watching those weather reports. I wonder if that sun stuff has anything to do with all of this oddness.

Speaking of  weird. This weekend I am going to a Haunted Theater in Clifton forge. Back in my youth I saw the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” up there. Did you know that  movie was based on a true story in Wisconsin? No wonder they changed it to Texas. A group of woodcutters met us at the theater door, fired up chainsaws and chased us down the street. Oh to be young again! I can recall that like it was yesterday. The thrill of being chased by men wielding chainsaws, something I could never forget. Ha!

Now the great horrors are real like terrorism and the economy.  Perhaps even the sun. Horror–worse yet, all of those political ads running on television. Who besides me cannot wait for that to end??

Another change up I promised this to some of the readers. Here is my Quick  Loaded Potato Soup recipe in case it does snow sometime this winter.

Loaded Potato soup

2 cups cubed potatoes

4 cups water

1 small onion chopped,

1 green pepper diced

1 can chicken broth

2 cups milk

1 pkg ham cubes

1 small pkg real bacon bits

1 jar Cheese Whiz

2 cups milk,

Pepper, celery salt and a hint of garlic

1/2 cup Butter

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Paprika

Boil potatoes til almost done. Add peppers and onions cook until tender. In a bowl whisk milk, broth and Cheese Whiz. Pour over potatoes and vegetables. Add ham cubes. Stir  lightly and cook for about 15 mins on low. Add butter and spices. Cook 10 more minutes. Dip into bowls. Sprinkle with Bacon and grated cheese!  Dust with Paprika.Yummy!
