Terrific Tuesday: Trees
Hey! It’s Terrific Tuesday again! How’s everything in your neck of the woods?
What a great day to be in Botetourt County. The sky is blue and the trees are red, orange, green and gold. It looks like nature’s Treasure Chest. Indeed it is the season of vibrant color. How do you like this beautiful tree? Just north of the Town of Fincastle and the sunlight hit it just right this morning, I snapped this pic.
I like trees. They are positives. They give us the air we breath, provide mechanics for building, places to sleep if you are a bird, grow fruit for us to eat…. oh wax poetic. And so I will. A whole generation of folks have missed the poem, “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer. Here it is from a website called, “www.poemhunter.com”
Trees
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
See ya next week! Send us a pic of the beautiful fall tree near you. news@botetourtview.com
