Update on Veteran’s Day Flag event planned in Fincastle Nov. 10-11

Send in names of Veterans to be honored and make donations for flags.

Names for Veterans Day Recognition and Donations still needed for Veterans Day Event in Fincastle

Donations are still needed to purchase American flags to be displayed along Main Street (with homeowner’s permission) and placed on veteran graves in Godwin Cemetery and The Fincastle Presbyterian Church Cemetery for the Veterans Day Event in Fincastle.  If you would like to make a donation, please drop your check by the Bank of Fincastle or mail your donation to: The Bank of Fincastle:Fincastle Flags(Memo Line) P. O. Box 107, Fincastle, Va 24090.  Citizens who would like the name of a veteran called out at the Godwin Cemetery ceremony, please email your name(s) to the contacts Carol Brenner or Cathy Benson at csbrenner@hotmail.com or catbel8@aol.com.

Volunteers will place the American Flag out on display Saturday morning, November 10,  at 10:00am.  They will remain on display the  weekend of November 10 and 11, 2012 in honor of all American veterans of all wars and active duty service.  Everyone is invited to the Veterans ceremony in Godwin Cemetery on Sunday, November 11, at 9:30 am.   The ceremony is coordinated with Fincastle Presbyterian Church, Fincastle United Methodist Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church as well a local veterans.  The ceremony will last approximately 25 minutes and conclude with church bells ringing.
