“Weed Free” at Cloverdale Elementary as preliminary to Red Ribbon Week
The courtyard and front sign at Cloverdale Elementary School received a spruce up on Tuesday Oct. 16 and all for a good cause. Termed “Cloverdale is Weed Free” over 100 children signed up to help clear away debris in the court yard, weed and mulch, pick up trash around the school campus and liven up the front sign landscape. The event was the intro to the anti drug campaign, Red Ribbon week next Oct. 22-26 where students are encouraged to be “Drug Free.”
Branden Wells special education teacher who headed up the project said, ” We had over 100 students volunteer to stay after school and work in the garden/courtyard. They moved approximately 1 ton of mulch! Many hands made light work. ”
In the spring more will happen with the garden. Wells continued, ” We will be planting an Herb garden and other plants come spring, with cooperation from Lowes and the local Farm Bureau.”
