The clock is ticking for 375 children in Botetourt who are Angles on trees around the county.
“Christmas is on the way. Angels remain on the tree.” Said Tina Childress at Botetourt Social Services. “All of the angels are children right here in Botetourt County. While numerous churches, businesses, girl and boy scouts, school groups and volunteers like Toys for Bot-e-tots and Operation Christmas Cheer, Sgt. Matt Ward held a Poker Run, as well as other individuals have jumped in, less than half of the available angels have been taken from the long list.
“All angels have to be in by Dec. 9. Please go by one of the branch bank offices at The Bank of Botetourt or the Bank of Fincastle, Kroger. All have angels waiting to be picked up. Take a name at your church, help your children’s school, reach out.” Childress is very worried about the children this year. Said Director of Social Services Bill Burleson, “It has been a tight year for so many people.”
Botetourt Social Services only has $1,500 in cash donations which would not touch the amount needed to serve the remaining Angels. “Please be sure to return your gifts to the place where you picked up the Angel tag,” said Childress.
The clock is ticking. Dec. 9 is fast approaching.
