Preston Memorial has been redesigned by Hill Studios.

Hill Studios re-designed the William Preston Memorial in the works for almost 20 years and now proposed to be located at Greenfield Education and Training Center. It will have a garden effect. Each ray of the memorial has a focal point that Preston may have seen in his day like north toward Fincastle, south towards Amsterdam and so forth.

Rupert Cutler asked the county at the Nov. 27 Board of Supervisors meeting to consider funding for the memorial in the future budget . The Sons of the American Revolution have raised almost $50, 000 for the estimated $178,000 cause.

The Supervisors were impressed. Clinton called it “an inspired design.”

Cutler asked for an official approval of the design and site for location. The board agreed without official motion and will be approved in a future  Capital Improvement Plan .
