Roanoke Catholic Celtics take the VIS Division III State Championship beating Hampton Christian in three straight sets. Four of the Roanoke Catholic players are from Botetourt, seniors Anna and Maria Barrera and juniors Danielle Dorman and Zoe Doubles. Rounding out the team are seniors Mairian Guilfoyle, Ava Perez, juniors Anne Deer, Nat LeDonne, sophomores, Allison George, Alexandra Arnold, and freshman Ashlee Deer.
Roanoke Catholic played a grueling schedule this season; losing only to public school power house Hidden Valley, and to VIS Division I runner up Liberty Christian Academy. This challenging schedule helped prepare the girls for what has become their second state championship in as many years. In the tournament Roanoke Catholic defeated Stonebridge in three sets to advance to the semi finals in Richmond. In Friday’s match against Westover Roanoke Catholic was again able to advance taking all three sets. The Roanoke Catholic Celtics took the championship title without losing a game.
