GES students enjoyed Veteran’s Day presentation

Greenfield Elementary students in Kindergarten, First, and Fourth grades enjoyed the Veteran’s Day presentation given by retired Air Force Brigadier General Scott Van Cleef on November 12.  This was the eighth consecutive year of similar programs that include a discussion of the reasons we celebrate Veteran’s Day, what it’s like to fly as an Air Force pilot, and a hands-on demonstration of pilot flight gear.  This program is part of the Air Force Association’s aerospace education outreach program provided by the local Roanoke Chapter with the intent of instilling a desire to study science, technology, engineering and math in the students.  It is always a popular event.
