Harrison Withers is “Player of Year” fall season in US Golf Kids Tour
Harrison Withers is a 9 year old third grader at Cloverdale Elementary School. This fall after some 15 plus tournaments he won the 2012 Fall series US Golf Kids Tour “Player of the Year.”
He has been playing since the age of three. Withers said, ” I like playing with my friends and my Dad.” He became interested in the tournament schedule through his older brother Andrew who is a student at Read Mountain Middle School and also a golfer.
The duo play golf at Ashley Plantation with their father. They take lessons through the Golf Academy at the club. Jeff Sprinkle, PGA, the golf pro at Ashley had high praise for the youthful golfer:
“He has a natural swing. We let kids use the same observation techniques that our adult students have available. Harrison at this stage is also very coachable .”
Harrison plans to take more lessons at the Ashley Golf Academy over the winter. Right now he is relaxing from the rigor of so many tournaments. He is proud of his Champion’s Cup and hat. So hats off the young Mr. Withers! He will soon be on the Wall of Fame at the Academy with the likes of Lindsey Hunnell and Korey Watts to name a few other well known local young golfers. One day he would like to be a professional golfer. For more information on lessons at the winter Golf Academy contact Sprinkle. 540-353-3021.
