James River Golfer Wins Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Award Junior Male Golfer of 2012
Korey Watts a senior at James River High School was awarded the Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Junior Male Golfer of the Year. Watts was recognized at the annual Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Golf Banquet at Roanoke Country Club on November 14, 2012. Watts completed the golf season with 1240 points with Ryan Monday of Blacksburg placing second with 1145 points. Points are awarded based on The Bob McLelland Junior Hall of Fame Ranking System and players from all over this region of Virginia compete for this award. Watts won the Roanoke Valley Hall of Fame Junior Championship and Men’s Championship in 2012. Also, adding to Watts points were his performance in high school tournaments, VSGA events, The Scott Robertson and other tournaments. Watts plans to play golf at the collegiate level after graduating from James River in June of 2013.
