James River’s Knightly Players will perform “Look Me In The Eye” for the general public at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15th in the high school auditorium. This play was written by Lindsay Price.
No admission will be charged but donations will be accepted at the door.
“Look Me InThe Eye” is a one-act drama that takes place roughly 100 years from now in a society that has changed dramatically. Justice has become swift and severe for anyone who commits a crime. As a part of the education system, young people are required to witness the system in action so that they will understand the consequences of non-compliant behavior. “As we have worked on this show we have had many discussions on how the justice system in this futuristic society changed so dramatically” said director, Cathy Henderson. “However, you don’t have to look very hard to find similar behavior in other cultures today. It really is a thought provoking show that will make you wonder what our justice system might be like in the future.”
Cast members are: Julia Ewen as Rul, Tyler Wagner as Vio, Erin Smith as Tor, Trent Smith as Fea, Anna Falls as Rea, Katie Smith as Offence Officer Flint and Morgan Gozzo as Offence Officer Ash. Technical crew members are Sam Malloy as sound technician, Tiffany Brandt as lighting technician, Kayla White on make-up/costumes, Samantha Cahoon and Zak Keith as technical assistants.
Following the public performance on November 15th, the cast will perform the play at the Region C Theatre Festival on Saturday, November 17th being hosted by James River. The festival will begin that day at 8:45 AM. There is no admission charged for the festival where seven one-act plays or cuttings from plays compete for the right to advance to the VHSL State Theatre Festival, held in Charlottesville in early December.
Anyone with questions about the theatre festival can Cathy Henderson for more information at 473-2282.
