Lauren Brown, formerly of Botetourt, ran 10th marathon

Lauren Brown ran her 10th marathon.

Lauren Brown  recently ran her 10th marathon in Bar Harbor Maine on October 14, 2012. She completed the Mount Desert Island Marathon, a hilly and challenging course with a time of 3:43:19.

In April, Brown ran in the prestigious 116th Boston Marathon in record setting heat with a finish time of 4:27:19. She qualified for the Boston run in the Philadelphia Marathon in 2010.

Locally she placed first overall female  in the Conquer the Cove marathon at Carvins Cove in June 2011. She has twice run the Blue Ridge Marathon up Mill Mountain and around Roanoke and it is ranked as one of the top 15 toughest by the Weather Channel.

Brown grew up in Buchanan and graduated from James River High School, Roanoke College and has a Masters in business from Virginia Tech. She and her husband Barry live in Roanoke.
