PA students get practical skills at Vistar Eye Care
Valley Supervisor Dr. Mac Scothorn of Vistar Eye Care is a huge proponent of private industry helping out schools and other governmental agencies. On Friday Nov. 2, Physician Assistant students from Jefferson College of Health Sciences came to learn about eye care at Vistar Eye Care in Cloverdale where he practices.
One group of students watched videos while others did practical things– like trying to remove a piece of metal from a cadaver eye, learning how to exam an eye and so forth.
“By doing practical and hands on activities the students get experience with actual doctors in a real life setting,” said Scothorn.”We do this once per year and today we have 38 students here from the college.”
