Photo: Brownie Troop 620 visits Carvins Cove
On Oct. 27, Brownie Troop 620 of the Botetourt Service Unit of Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council spent a beautiful fall day at the Western Virginia Water Authority Carvins Cove Water Treatment Facility and Reservoir learning about water for their WOW Journey. They spent the morning walking around the treatment facility with tour guide Sarah Baumgardner, who not only showed the girls the process for cleaning the water that comes from the reservoir, showing them some of the machinery, and even into the control room where the facility’s workers keep track of the amount of water being cleaned daily, but also took the girls on a walking tour of the Carvins Cove reservoir. At the reservoir, the girls tested the temperature and the pH levels of the water, and they also went on a short hike, gathering little “fall treasures” along the way as keepsakes of their trip.
The girls attending the field trip were: Olivia Campbell, Arissa Graham, Payton Booth, Sophia Graham, Nina Appicello, Deanna Royal and Keeli Bramblett. Leader – Amanda A.
