Terrific Tuesday: Big Vote Day, class and diet, etc

Whatever the election outcome we must remain united!

Hey it’s Terrific Tuesday again. How’s everything in your neck of the woods.

Voting has been heavy in Botetourt today. Just heard from a friend of mine that William Fleming in Roanoke is packed, another said that Southwest County precincts were packed as well. At least it seems people are serious about the election as well we should be!

I have spent the better part of the day going to precincts. Big numbers today so who can tell what will be the outcome. Election results will be fun to watch tonight.

Yesterday  I taught a class for the Delta Academy at Lucy Addison Middle School in Roanoke. They are a group of girls learning how to give back to the community. They are kids, so they are most excited about the talent show they will have in Dec.  I had them interview and then read the stories like they would put them together for a newspaper article. It was fun. I have a photo, but can’t get it to download– look for it tomorrow!

Different for me, but then I like young people, so working with them is like a breath of fresh air. They are still excited about life.

Otherwise I am trying to stay on a diet of sorts. With the holidays approaching here is some good advice. I just blew it by purchasing candy at the DG.  But one day won’t kill me. I have lost 20 pounds since June. Hard to tell, but I have. My “today jeans” no longer unzip themselves from stress and they are loose in the legs and bum. The prominent belly is still prominent, but eventually it will wear off– I hope. I am cursed to appear 9 months pregnant I fear for the rest of my life….

Here are a couple of tips that are working for me.

Eat on a smaller plate. Park far away from the door. Eat a carrot instead of a chip. Be vegetarian 2 days per week. Use the steps. Add olive oil instead of butter and margarine. Drink water before you eat. Skip dessert. Try your skinnier clothes on every week to see if they fit yet. When they do—Wooohooo!  Limit bread intake to one serving per day and increase the veggies! Pat yourself on the back if you lose weight!

See ya next week!
