The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, and to Pigeon Forge, TN, on Saturday-Sunday, November 17-18, 2012.
DAY 1: The group will stop at Russell Stover Outlet in Kodak, TN. They will also visit Three Bears General Store to enjoy the fudge and see the live bears. There will be a chance for some shopping at Vanity Fair Outlet and the matinee Christmas show at the Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge.
DAY 2: Embrace holiday hospitality on a grand scale as we visit Biltmore House and Gardens. Biltmore celebrates the season with lavish decorations inspired by the grandeur of the house and it’s surroundings. Natural themes drawn from the gardens, harvest, and birds of the region, accented by traditional ornaments of the Vanderbilt’s era, grace every location from vast public spaces to intimate guests bedrooms.
Boasting four acres of floor space, the 250-room mansion features 34 master bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, 65 fireplaces, three kitchens, an indoor bowling alley and an indoor swimming pool. It rivals the greatest manors in Europe.

Christmas with Elvis

The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the matinee of Christmas with Elvis, featuring Elvis tribute artist Stephen Freeman, at the T. Austin Finch Auditorium, Thomasville, NC, on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
Christmas with Elvis will feature Stephen Freeman and his Echos of a Legend Showband. Returning for this show will be “The Stamps Quartet Tribute.”
The Quartet will perform as Elvis’s original back up group “The Stamps Quartet” for Stephen and during the show will feature their own solo tribute performance to “The Stamps Quartet.” This stirring tribute is a must see for any Elvis fan.
Prior to the concert, the group will visit the Bob Timberlake Gallery and other attractions in Outlets. The group will have lunch on their own prior to the show.
The price of $79 per person includes: Roundtrip bus transportation, a visit to Bob Timerlake Gallery and other attractions, ticket to the matinee performance of Christmas with Elvis and a tour host.

Christmas at the Greenbrier & Homestead – Bus Trip

The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to Christmas at the Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Christmas at the Homestead, Hot Springs, VA, on Sunday, December 2, 2012.
At the Homestead, the facilities, services and decor characterize an upscale property. You will have an opportunity to take a self-guided tour through the historic resort, relax in the elegant lobbies, shop in one of the 20 unique specialty shops, and view magnificient Christmas decorations.
There will be a picture stop at Falling Springs Falls and the group will then be treated to lunch at the Mason Jar in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
After lunch, the group arrives at the Greenbrier Resort, White Sulphur Springs, WV. They can take a self-guided tour which showcases the grand resorts flamboyant interior design, which spans a range of eras, employs vibrant colors and striking patterns. The resort will be all decked out for the Christmas season.

A Christmas Story @ Barter Theatre & Speedway in Lights – Bus Trip

The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is planning a bus trip to see the matinee of A Christmas Story at the Barter Theatre, Abingdon, VA, and to Speedway in Lights at the Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, TN, on Saturday, December 8, 2012.
In the matinee of A Christmas Story, all Ralphie wants for Christmas is a genuine Red Ryder BB Gun, but all the adults in his life only respond with, “You’ll shoot your eye out!” This well-loved Christmas movie tradition comes to life on Barter’s stage featuring all of your favorite scenes including the school bully, bunny suit, the tongue on the flagpole triple-dog-dare, the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin and the iconic leg lamp. Don’t miss this laugh-filled Christmas comedy-perfect for the whole family.
The Bristol Motor Speedway has introduced new displays this year. The roar of engines is replaced with the twinkling of two million lights during Bristol Motor Speedway’s annual Speedway in Lights. Along the 5.2 mile route, including a drive around the World’s Fastest Half-Mile, visitors delight in over 200 displays.

Song of the Mountains – Bus Trip (Seldom Scene to headline the show)

The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to Song of the Mountains at the Lincoln Theatre, Marion, VA, on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
Song of the Mountains showcases the best talents in Bluegrass and old-time music, from the heart of the region where it all began. There will be a live recording of the award winning PBS Television Show featuring Seldom Scene and a variety of artists performing for the December 15 show.
The Lincoln Theatre, of the Art Deco Age, is included in the National Register of Historic Places.
Prior to the show, the group will have dinner at Macado’s in Marion (on your own).

CHRISTMAS AT BILTMORE ESTATES AND GARDENS – Bus Trip

The Botetourt County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to Christmas at the Biltmore Estates and Gardens, Asheville, NC, on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Embrace holiday hospitality on a grand scale.
Beginning with Christmas Eve 1895 when George Vanderbilt first opened Biltmore House to family and friends, joyous celebrations have marked the holidays at the Estate. Today, in keeping with the Vanderbilt’s hospitable tradition, Biltmore celebrates the season with lavish decorations inspired by the grandeur of the house and it’s surroundings. Natural themes drawn from the gardens, harvest, and birds of the region, accented by traditional ornaments of the Vanderbilt’s era, grace every location from vast public spaces to intimate guests bedrooms.
The bounty of Biltmore’s Christmas celebration is drawn from the Estates itself. Nature’s generosity infuses dozens of decorated trees; hundreds of fresh wreaths and poinsettias and miles of evergreen roping adorn the Estate.
