Veterans honored at Read Mountain Middle School Nov. 9
Veterans were honored on Friday morning Nov. 9 at Read Mountain Middle School. Over 60 Veterans came to the event. Most of them were associated to particular students– parent, grandparents, cousins and kin. The school recognized each by name during the assembly.
The band played, the chorus sang and the students waved flags and posters. The entire Assembly said the pledge of allegiance after the playing of the national anthem. It was a red, white and blue morning of Veteran acknowledgements. Speakers included: Scott Gathje, United State Marine Corps; James Frazier, United States Army; Robert Moyer, United States Air Force and William Phoenix, United States Navy. Only the United States Coast Guard was missing from the speaker chairs. After a send off and dismissal, Veterans were honored at a reception and student went back to class.
