After much anticipation, the Buchanan Theatre will go LIVE with its new digital projection system starting Friday, December 21 with Disney’s WRECK-IT RALPH. This new digital system allows the theater to be a second run for newer films.
Since the theater re-opened in 2002, it has been using a DVD system with LCD projector. Unfortunately, movies could not be shown there until they were released to DVD. Licensing fees have gone up over the past several years to the point that it was not uncommon to pay $350 to show a movie. With the new format, everything will be based on percentages.
The quality of the picture and sound are phenomenal compared to what was being used previously.
The movie prices will remain the same, but the theater will add showing times. In addition to Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., movies will also be shown Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. and Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m.
Other times may be added during holidays and days that schools are closed. Upcoming titles will include TWILIGHT-BREAKING DAWN PART 2, RISE OF THE GUARDIANS and LINCOLN. You can access movie schedules through the theater’s web site www.buchanantheatre.com or by calling 254-1155.
