CAMS works hard for Toys going to Botetourt children
The Toys 4 Bot-E-tots campaign has been going on for over five years at Central Academy Middle School. This year the students and the community raised 2,150 toys that will stay in Botetourt County. The toys will go to the 350 children on the Botetourt County Social Services list. Matt Ward, son of Nellie Ward the creator of the program, held a poker run with the help of numerous area businesses and community helpers including the Lord Botetourt FFA during the fall. The Poker Run raised $3,245 dollars to go to 13 families. The LBHS FFA took on a family as well. Dollar General collected many toys from patrons and the Bank of Fincastle made T-Shirts.
The top toy donors at CAMS were Kristen Dyer who brought in 125 toys, and Jacob Wagner, Alexis Bierce and Gabe Dorton.
“We hope to form this into a non profit,” said Matt Ward. We have a checking account at the Bank of Fincastle and we are exploring forming a committee.
