Peter Tainer of Botetourt is on a billboard on Electric Road just southeast of GE.

Peter Tainer who graduated  from LBHS in 2012, is a para athlete and tried out for the Para Olympics. He is featured on a billboard in Salem above the BMW cycle lot. At a young age, Tainer of Troutville had both legs amputated. Said Tainer, who goes to Roanoke College, “I was driving down the road and looked up and said, ‘Hey, that’s me!”

Several years ago Virginia Prosthetics asked his permission to use him in some ads. He was still stunned to see himself up on the billboard. Famous for the “Cheetah legs” prosthesis he runs on, the young athlete smiles down on the drivers with confidence!
