4-H Camp Teen Counselors are needed for Botetourt County 4-H Camp this summer. Any teen, ages 14 – 18 as of January 1, 2013 are eligable. Qualifications include responsibility and maturity; have an interest in youth; ability to work with youth; possess leadership ability; knowledge of the 4-H program; interested in getting involved and being active in the 4-H program; and the ability to plan, organize and teach or assist with a class. Teens are selected to serve as Counselors to assist with camp classes, swim time, campfires, evening programs and the campers. Some Teen Counselors actually teach classes such as Soccer, a foreign language, crafts, and other topics. It’s lots of fun and a good way to gain some job skills. It looks good on resumes for college or for employment.

Do they get paid for this? What are the sleeping arrangements?
They mind the campers at night, help with classes during the day, lead activities at night. It builds leadership and teamwork skills. They make lasting friendships. Girls and boys dorms. They do not get paid, but they get a great deal of experience and have fun. They get to put it on their college resume, too. My daughter is a teen counselor. She loves 4H Camp!
