Board of Supervisors meetings will stay at 2 p.m.
At the end of the Tuesday Jan. 22, 2012 Board of Supervisors, Buchanan rep Terry Austin brought up the change of meeting times to 9 a.m. in the closing moments of the meeting. In December, Austin proposed that meetings needed to be changed back to the way they were to benefit a county newspaper and the a county staff. When Valley District member Mac Scothorn a local Ophthalmologist said he might have to resign if he could not work at least part of they day, the item was left on the table to this month. Here is our previous story.
Austin said he felt the time could stay as it is and no changes are forthcoming. Board member Fincastle’s Jack Leffel remarked the consensus of his contacts wanted meetings left at 2 p.m. or changed to night.
Board of Supervisors will continue to meet the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2 p.m. at Greenfield Education and Training Center. Public hearings on large items will remain 6 p.m. on the same day.

Day meetings make it hard for most people who work to even attend meetings. They should be at a reasonable hour unless there is a reason you don’t want the people that have jobs to attend?
