Bobcats on Tinker Mountain

Tinker Mountain shadows a good portion of western and southern Botetourt County. Our favorite naturalist Ben Shrader captured a few Bobcats on his game cameras in late fall and early winter. The eerie cry of a Bobcat can raise gooseflesh on the arms and back of the neck of humans who hear it! The animals are nocturnal primarily, though some will be out at dawn and dusk. Rabid Bobcats have been known to attack humans, but a healthy Bobcat  remains elusive.  Hunters of small game and the occasional house cat, Bobcats are rather plentiful in the area and in the entire United States. Scientific name is Lynx Rufus.

Thanks, Ben!
