Lord Botetourt to get Indoor Hitting Facility

Indoor hitting facility at LBHS will look very similar to this according to what Coach Todd Smith presented to the school board.
At the regular school board meeting on Jan. 10, Lord Botetourt moved ahead with an indoor hitting facility by school board approval. Though not as elaborate as previous plans from 2008, that were introduced at a cost of 125,000, the facility will protect from the weather. The approved facility is at a cost of $19,950 for phase 1. It will be a patio/covered type roof over the existing batting cage and bullpen area on the baseball field. It would have extended flooring with concrete to cover the rest of the covered area. It will be 48×72 and an estimated 12 foot roof. Reed Kelly of the Botetourt Home Run Club said the money is in hand. The presentation was made by Principal Janet Womack and LB baseball coach Todd Smith. Softball players will also be able to use the facility.
In phase II in the future an roll -up set of garage doors and sides will be used fully enclose the facility. No date was proposed for the implementation.

Wonderful news and long overdue! Good luck to the Cavaliers – these boys and girls will benefit tremendously from this facility!
